Advice & Support

The Science Library provides learning, teaching and research support. The library staff advise professors, researchers and students on specific issues: author identifiers, metrics, reference managers, etc.

Professors

Our library advises teaching and research staff on an increasing number of issues. The professors in our faculty already know how the library can offer them support in relation to:

  • Creating, reviewing and updating author profiles and identifiers, such us ORCID, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc.
  • Obtaining and exporting bibliographic metrics in Web of Science and Scopus.
  • Collaboration in the preparation of applications for accreditations or six-year periods.
  • Advice on where (and where not) to publish: open access journals, predatory journals, etc.
  • Assistance in uploading our university's scientific output to the UDC Institutional Repository (RUC).
  • Guidance on using Turnitin's software to support plagiarism detection.
  • Using reference management software effectively.
  • Preparing training sessions which are customized to their students' needs.

Students

Students may also have questions that the library can answer. They may have questions on simple issues, such as those related to the use of the catalogue, or more complex ones, such as those related to bibliographic referencing. The library can assist them in:

  • Finding information on regulations and use of the UDC Library.
  • Using and searching in Crunia efficiently.
  • Consulting databases and other online resources.
  • Reviewing citations and bibliographic references in their dissertations (Final Degree Projects or Master Thesis).
