Search

Crunia searches all the resources in the UDC library regardless of their medium, type or location.

Any result obtained can be modified a posteriori by applying a filter.

Both in the simple and advanced search, you can limit the scope of the search by several criteria

Simple search
  1. Enter search term/s (keyword, title, author, ISBN, ISSN, etc.)
  2. Select the scope of the search
  3. Click on the magnifying glass button (Search)

Use this search when you are interested in searching in the 16 libraries of the UDC. Keep in mind that from any library we can make book requests to other libraries. Ask us to send you documents not borrowed by phone, e-mail or at the counter.

Search the holdings of a single library

For example, if you want to limit your search to what we have in the Sociology and Communication Library, you only need to select us in the drop-down list of facets and the catalogue will return only documents held in the selected library.

Note that in the drop-down list there are other facet different from the location through which to restrict your search.

Advanced search

Using this search you can indicate in which field or fields you want your search terms to appear. Note that you can simultaneously search in more than one field at a time and apply connectors (boolean operators): and, or, not.

You can apply other operators to improve your searches:

  • Adjacent terms: search for terms that are next to each other by typing them in inverted commas. E.g.: "social anthropology".
  • Grouping of search terms using parentheses (). E.g.: (climate OR environment) AND change.
  • Truncations: search for words that have the same lexical root by using the asterisk (*) e.g.: archaeo* will display titles containing the words archaeological, archaeological, archaeology, archaeologist...

You can also add several limits to refine you query: resource type, availability, library, language, author/creator, creation date.

For example, if you enter the terms François Truffaut in the field SUBJECT, and the years 2010 and 2015 in the fields CREATION DATE, the search engine will limit itself to look for all the documents that deal with the French director published between 2010 and 2015, and will leave out all other results.

 Recommended bibliography search

By choosing the Recommended Bibliography option in the top menu, we obtain a form with some predefined options.

In order to find a title that is a recommended bibliography of a subject, we can search by:

  • Name of the subject
  • Subject code

O Código da materia  pódelo atopar na Guías docentes do curso.

Search for academic jobs
