IALA is a research group formed by professors from the University of A Coruña and external staff who are interested in the History and Theory of Architecture and, particularly, in the relationship between Modernity and Contemporaneity in the Galician region.

IALA work focuses on academic research, teaching innovation, knowledge transfer to institutions and companies and dissemination to society of the History of Architecture, understood in its multiple dimensions and scales, from design to territory.

The acronym IALA refers to Introduction to Architecture, the first year course in the Degree in Architecture Studies taught at the School of Architecture of the University of A Coruña, where the group originated as a shared teaching and research experience.
