Karina Maldonado-Mariscal is a senior researcher at the TU Dortmund University, Social Research Center (SFS), where she researches and teaches on the topics of social innovation, methodology in the social sciences and the foundations of sociological
research. She was postdoctoral researcher at the ETH Zurich and she has been lecturer and doctoral researcher in Sociology at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
She is currently conducting scientific research in different European projects, such as the European Social Innovation Alliance (ESIA), and has obtained European research funding, such as the CHESS (Change Hubs for Ecosystemic Social Solutions) project,
which will start in 2023.Her previous research projects dealt with social innovation in education in Brazil and Mexico, social inequality in Germany, vocational training, innovation policy in Mexico, citizen science and innovation in science.
He has conducted field research in different countries, including Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, Serbia and Nepal.
Karina has published in international journals: Bridging Social Innovation in Education and Organisational Learning (2022); Social Change in Brazil Through Innovations and Social Movements (2020); Ecosystems of Co-Creation (2021). She has also published a
book in German, with an international team: Rehbein, Maldonado et al., Reproduktion sozialer Ungleichheit in Deutschland (2015).
