Berce Programme supporting Excellent Science

The UDC, in its Strategic Plan 2022-2026, is committed to the promotion of quality research and the development of a solid research career. To this end, policies have been established aimed at attracting and retaining talent at all stages of the research career, creating an environment conducive to professional growth and scientific progress.

One of these policies is the berce programme (Welcome, stabilisation and return of excellent science ), which was launched in 2016. Berce establishes the necessary conditions for research staff to find a favourable environment at the UDC to develop their research excellence. Through a series of measures and support services, it focuses on three pillars: welcoming and integrating international researchers at the UDC, offering job stabilisation options with very competitive economic conditions and facilitating the return of talent that carries out its activity abroad. Since its creation, the berce programme has provided its services to more than 70 researchers.

Welcome to research staff

With special attention to those staff who wish to develop an Excellent Science grant at the UDC

Career stabilisation for research staff

In those excellent science programmes that provide this option, as well as ERC Grant winners

Return of outstanding Galician scientific talent

Currently carrying out research abroad and wishing to return to Galicia to continue their scientific career

The berce programme is aimed at all those calls for funding for individual projects that represent a firm commitment to research excellence and that can mark a significant advance in the scientific trajectory.

In addition, these calls make it easier for research staff who are abroad to develop their project in entities such as the UDC and even aspire to remain in our institution.

The programme offers its support in four types of calls:
