Dr Sadaf Shariat is a Lecturer in Law, based in the University of South Wales Business School. She is currently Module Leader for Information Technology Law and Patent Law courses taught on an LLM programme in Intellectual Property Law which is delivered by the University of South Wales exclusively to patent and trademark examiners at the UK Intellectual Property Office. She has previously contributed to the delivery of Intellectual Property Law, European Constitutional Law, and Commercial Law modules at Durham Law School (2014–2017). Sadaf has a PhD in Law from Durham Law School, PGCert in Academic Practice from Durham University’s School of Education and an MBA in Corporate Social Responsibility from Nottingham University’s School of Business. Her PhD proposed a concept-theoretic position for the commercialisation of new technologies and to reconcile competing rights in EU patent law. Sadaf has supervised postgraduate research in the broad area of new technologies in Law, particularly in artificial intelligence, and legal and ethical issues with intellectual property. She has regularly presented her research in the field of European IT and IP law in international conferences. She is also a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA).
