Dr Israel Temprano was born in A Coruña, he graduated as B.Sc. in Chemistry from Universidade da Coruña in 2003. He then obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees, on enantiospecific synthesis and molecular electronics respectively, from Université Laval (Canada) under the supervision of Professor Peter McBreen. In 2009 Israel was appointed Marie Curie post-doctoral research associate at the University of Liverpool working on materials functionalization with Professor Rasmita Raval. Later that year he moved to the University of Cambridge to work on heterogeneous catalysis with Professor Sir David King and Dr.Stephen Jenkins. In 2016 he joined the group of Prof. Clare Grey to develop lithium air batteries. His main research interest lies in studying the fundamental properties governing the chemical properties of innovative materials, which drive very diverse and highly relevant scientific, social and industrial issues. He currently holds a coresearcher position at the University of Cambridge working on a range of application related to surface science and materials for energy.
