The whole month of August is full of concerts and other leisure activities in the city of A Coruña and the surrounding region. There will be around 300 events taking place this month, many of which with free access. You can access the full programme here, and get more information about the city from www.turismocoruna.com.
The students of the International Summer School also coordinate themselves through an official Facebook group set up by the ISS to organise special leisure activities in their spare time.

After attending to the official presentation at the university and once everyone is settled in, we will meet in the afternoon to have the opportunity to get to know people from different courses that you might have not met yet and enjoy some typical food and drinks together.

We will meet at Plaza Pontevedra and walk through our promenade until we reach the Domus, an interactive local museum that allows you to discover the secrets of the human body in a special way.

This afternoon we will visit the Castillo de San Antón/San Antón Castle, an archaeologic and historical museum which sits on an old fortress that operated as a defense building and prison, and today houses many archaeological objects.
After visiting the museum, we will walk to our famous Medieval Fair, where you will be able to enjoy a lot of food, craftwork, and medieval exhibitions.

Is there anything more typical Spanish than Tapas? This Friday we will organize a Tapas Night for you to have the opportunity to taste our delicious tapas and get to know and enjoy our gastronomy.

In the morning, we will take a bus to Santiago de Compostela, and we will spend the day discovering one of Galicia’s most important cities and its history. We will guide you through the main monuments and places of interest of the city, such as the famous Cathedral and much more.

From the meeting point, we will walk our way to the Hercules Tower, a roman lighthouse that is included in the World Heritage List and one of the most important monuments of our city. We will have the opportunity to discover some of the history of A Coruña and to go up to the top and enjoy the beautiful view of the city.

There are two campus in the UDC structure, the main one where you will be attending your daily lessons in A Coruña and a second one placed in Ferrol, a little city 30 min away from A Coruña. This day, we will take a bus to Ferrol at 9:30 am and you will have the opportunity to visit this second campus and discover a little bit about Ferrol, a city with a huge navy history.
This is a compulsory activity, just like a regular day of class.

The Aquarium Finisterrae is another local museum located on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a public science center dedicated to environmental education and scientific research of marine species. It has four exhibition halls, and a biological collection made of up to 338 different species.

Located in Parque de Santa Margarita, this museum has a planetarium and three exhibition centers: physics experiences, exhibition on pendulums and exposure to astronomy in the media. In the hollow of the central stairway, a Foucault pendulum swings.
