Startup Lab

Course Overview

Startup Lab is an intensive, hands-on, project-based course in which student team’s design and test new business concepts that address real-world needs. Students will learn critical and broadly applicable techniques about starting and launching a venture.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will demonstrate the ability to

CLO 1: Identify business ideas in line with the market opportunities

CLO 2: Design a marketing research program to assess the selected business idea

CLO 3: Develop a basic prototype of proposed product or service

CLO 4: Develop marketing strategy, marketing campaign using social media tools and business model 

Course Content

Assessment of Entrepreneurial DNA through a psychometric test and understand UAE start-up infrastructure

Analyse business ideas and convert into business opportunities for start-up using digital tools, develop teams and developing support network

Apply traditional and digital market research methods for a field survey

Assessing the prospective market, competitors and industry

Developing a Customer Value Proposition (CVP) to identify customer problems & pain points 

Drawing storyboard of a product or service based on features in line with CVP

Developing paper based and digital prototypes for the start-up using digital tools

Developing customer acquisition strategy, landing page using word press, social media marketing / google display ad campaign for the start-up using digital tools

Developing revenue streams, revenue model, cost structure and profitability for the start-up

Develop pitch deck slides and practising hotseat  pitch for business plan
